The Nutcracker ballet occupies a special place in the repertoire of the famous Russian Ballet Theater.
The performance is very popular - not a single Christmas and New Year celebration is complete without the heroes of this amazing and wise fairy tale, which both adults and children love. This is a story about the birth of first love and the discovery of a huge world of experiences and feelings. The audience is delighted by the courage of the Nutcracker Prince, who defeated the army of the treacherous Myshilda, the kindness and courage of little Masha, who saw a noble and fearless Prince in the wooden Nutcracker doll, and, of course, the fairy-tale world of New Year's miracles and transformations.
The historical premiere of the ballet «The Nutcracker» took place in 1892 on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. The libretto, created by Marius Petipa based on Hoffmann's fairy tale «The Nutcracker and the Mouse King», has undergone different interpretations over time, but in all editions and productions, good defeated evil, and love triumphed. The brilliant music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky today still provides endless opportunities for new creative exploration for choreographers and dancers, and the colorful scenery complements the stage images, turning the wonderful fairy-tale world into reality.
